Our seasoned firewood starts the same way By the Roadside began out in the open, drying naturally in the fresh Virginia air. Seasoned wood takes time, patience, and the right conditions. Because it’s stored outdoors and dried by the sun, wind, and seasons, some pieces may have surface mold or the occasional bug. You may also notice surface moisture from rain or dew at delivery. This is completely normal for seasoned firewood, and it may take a week or two to burn at its very best.

Once fully dried, our seasoned hardwood burns hot, steady, and clean. Each order is a mix of local Virginia hardwoods—typically oak, cherry, hickory, and other hardwoods—all safe for indoor fireplaces, wood stoves, and outdoor fire pits.

Whether you’re heating your home, cooking over a charcoal grill, tending a backyard fire pit, or keeping a wood stove running through the night, this seasoned mix delivers reliable warmth rooted in honest, old-fashioned drying methods.

🔥 What to Expect in a By the Roadside Delivery

• You’ll receive a text message when your order is out for delivery.

• Your driver will send a photo once your wood is dropped.

• Amounts are always accurate—or more.

• Logs average 16 inches in length (with about 10% being slightly shorter or longer).

• Pieces average 2–5 inches in diameter.

• You’ll receive both triangle-shaped and squared-off pieces (split with our 16-way wedges).

• Our seasoned firewood typically falls between 15–30% moisture content.

This is real, honest hardwood cut, split, seasoned, and delivered with care.

• Please select Local Delivery at checkout — firewood cannot be shipped.

• Your order may arrive a few hours earlier or later depending on weather, traffic, and routing.

• Please leave a good phone number and delivery instructions.

• All firewood is sold as-is.
  

• Stacking is an add-on service (up to 15 feet from the delivery vehicle).

  • If stacking is not accessible within 15 feet, the driver may decline and you will receive a credit for the stacking fee.

• Outdoor firewood racks/covers sold separately.
