Because green wood is set out to dry in the elements, some pieces may have mold on them, and could even have bugs. Our green firewood will have a consistent moisture content between 30%-100%. Because green wood is stored in the elements, often times it will have surface moisture on the logs from rain when it is delivered. Green wood is not suitable to burn inside your home until the following year after purchased.
Green wood should be purchased to prepare for next years winter (2025)
Our green firewood is a mixture of hardwoods.
What to expect in a RSFW firewood delivery:
Quantity will always be as advertised, or more.
The length of our pieces will always average 16″, 10% or less may be longer or shorter.
We estimate in each delivery that you can expect wood pieces to be 2-5″ in diameter.
We split our wood with two 16 way wedges, one of which produces all square pieces. Be aware that in your order you will find both triangular shaped and square/rectangular shaped pieces.

We've ordered the seasoned wood before and loved it, and this time bought the green split wood in advance to prepare for the coming winter. By The Roadside always has stellar communication. The delivery person was very skillful in dumping the wood in just the right spot. I was wondering just how green it would be and was pleasantly surprised to find I can hardly tell the difference between the seasoned and green wood. The delivery person told me that the logs had already been sitting for 6 months or so before getting chopped. Now that I've seen the wood I can tell it will indeed be ready for this winter and I am very happy!
