We started our flower operation the same way we started our firewood — by hand, with heart. What began as a few raised beds by the roadside has blossomed into a small but growing flower farm where everything is started from seed and cared for daily.

Our goal is simple: to make it easy for anyone to enjoy homegrown beauty. Whether you’re planting your own garden, picking up a bouquet, or visiting for a U-Pick experience, every flower has been nurtured with patience and love — the By the Roadside way.

Each plant is raised locally, healthy, hardened off, and ready for planting. Some may be just getting started, some budding, and others already blooming — but every one of them is rooted strong and ready to grow.

  All stands are camera-monitored, cashless, and open 8 AM–7 PM, Monday through Saturday. Simply scan the QR code at the stand to pay.

We’ll send a text message when we’re on the way so your flowers never sit out too long.

Our flower selection changes with the seasons, but here’s what you’ll find throughout the year:

Q: Are your potted flowers blooming when I pick them up?

A: Not always! “Potted” doesn’t mean in full bloom — our plants may be dormant, budding, freshly rooted, or just getting started. That’s part of how we ensure they stay healthy and ready for your soil.

Q: What size are your pots?

A: We grow and sell in 1 qt and 4 qt pots depending on the variety. All are well-rooted and ready for transplanting.

Q: Where can I pick up my plants?

A: Sandston is our primary pickup location for flowers and plants. The Aylett stand currently carries only firewood, and the 360 Mechanicsville location will soon be adding more options.

Q: Can I get flowers delivered?

A: Yes! You can select a delivery date and time at checkout. We’ll text you when we’re on the way so your plants or bouquets arrive fresh and safe.

Q: What’s your return policy?

A: All plant and flower sales are final since they’re living products. However, we stand by the health of our plants — if there’s ever an issue, reach out within 24 hours and we’ll make it right.

Q: Are your flowers locally grown?

A: Yes! Every bloom and seedling is grown here in Virginia.
